OUR THOUGHTS

Classic "titans" of journalism (press, radio, television, news agencies) are highly susceptible to the restructuring of the system now. This happens due to the foreign guest - the Internet.

Modern speed of such an important process as connectedness makes the classic types of media puzzle over in which direction they should change. It is important to take into account many factors, changes of which are really significant. The changes took place on all of the fronts: the principles of the creation of a text, consumption, genre system, the nature of information, and the most important thing - speed.

The speed of life always gains momentum. That is why it is important to capture the reader, listener or viewer from the first seconds of performing of your proposed material and literally seek for him staying with you till the end of it. In other words, together with the speed of life, the speed of related to usefulness of your material decision-making is changing too. Realizing the irreversibility of these changes, many traditional mass media have already switched to the principles of the new media.

It is accepted to start criticism from compliments. Thus, an essential advantage of new media is that by using that it is possible to expand the capabilities of not only each paragraph but word. So, every fragment is a particular text which can be presented in any form of video, audio, etc. You can also fully enjoy Web 2.0 resources. Using this technology, the participants can generate content by themselves and manage it, as well as they can hype the resource. In addition, multimedia opportunities make it possible to  cover a variety of communication channels.

As for disadvantages, exposure to the Internet is one of them. Just imagine that this the World Wide Web will not sustain the load in a moment? Then everything that was collected by human after the creation of this powerful engine of progress may be lost. There is also a high degree of uncertainty, a large information noise.

In my opinion, in order to create content for the reader, which would satisfy its current needs, it is needed to upgrade or completely change the approach to the creation of products. Journalistic goods became different not only in terms of the package, but in terms of content.

The mass media is the service that develops after its consumer, for whom it lives and by whom it lives. So, modern editions appreciate new officials (so-called "professions of the future"), clear understanding of your destination and his interests, and the package. More than that, in these latter days advertising has moved to the network. However, television is winning this fight for the time being. It is connected with many factors, such as the availability of the TV, or that it is possible to disable all annoying information in the Internet with a few manipulations.

Why do I choose "together"? Because first of all we should remember about the historic, the noble purpose - to inform. Here we can recall the concept of a unified (converged) edition. In my opinion, the future is laid in this concept.

There are various forecasts. Someone predicts the death of traditional media till 2018, someone predicts it later. Everyone chooses to whom he wants to believe. As for me, I believe that traditional media will not die. This is my naive position that things cannot go nowhere. Every force only changes the form of its existence and transforms into a new species.

Journalism has been changing throughout its existence. Many factors may have an impact on this process - all from political till technological.

And now humanity goes to the line of change of epochs. Technological progress have filled our lives by information, and, moreover, have sped up the flow of information. Almost all spheres of our lives have been changed - from children's games till financial transactions. Of course, this wave of changes could not escape the shores of journalism.

As a result we see some differences between the journalism of past and the journalism of present. But we shouldn't think that the journalism of present will stand unchanged for centuries. This profession will be transformed, and all that we can - only assume the ways of this transformation. And now I want to share my fantasies on this subject.

1.  The win of digital journalism.
That means that classic newspapers, radio waves and analog broadcasting will migrate to the Internet permanently. It will happen at the nearest 50 years, when the cup of the Internet generation scales tipped the traditional media. In this way, popularity of information gamification, data-journalism and online journalism genres like infographics or timelines will grow up.

2. Journalism as a guide in the back streets of information noise.
Everyone has an opportunity to be an author in the Internet. All of us could collect, process and disseminate information like a journalist. So, what is the difference between a journalist and an ordinary internet user?
If the work of journalists could be done by everyone, they should find a new mission. It could be, for example, a guide function. People all over the world make huge amounts of content. And this content could be good or bad, true or false, high-quality or low-grade. The new mission of journalist is to help audience to find accurate and useful information in a pile of garbage.

3. Symbiosis of PR, advertising, promotion and journalism.
It’s quite difficult to find your audience in the Internet because of strong competition. So journalism could meet one more serious challenge in the Internet. Now “to write an article” is insufficiently. Now journalist should find a way how to make this article read. This is the reason why journalism could unite with another spheres of information work.

Experts, professionals and theorists always like to reflect about the future of something. Journalism is also among the topics for such discussions. However experts think only about the opposition of new and traditional media. But do we need to fear the death of traditional media? Maybe there is a problem of journalism which is more difficult than this?

With the advent of the Internet and social networks in particular journalism has become unusual. Every media made an official page on social networks and become to create a new content which is interesting for users of social networks. The primary audience stopped visiting sites of media and became to read news only in social networks. The unwillingness of the audience to read large web of text, journalists began to reduce news. Now look at any media in social networks. What do you see? Only photos, videos and another type of picture and small text with a basic idea. Can we call it «journalism»? No, I don’t think so. It is worth mentioning that the social network works fine on journalists. Often subscribers make news themselves and sent it to journalists. Sometimes journalists don’t even change the text of the news received from subscribers. But what about original journalist’s content? Modern journalists think only about how to get ahead of competitors, how to get more views, reposts and «likes». By the way, the quality of the written text, photos and videos aren’t appreciated too. It seems that journalists cease to be journalists, now the media readers are journalists. They make content, they write, they make photos and videos. But what do journalists make? Maybe you say «sometimes journalists can’t get to the scene at the right time». But remember that journalists of the old school always arrived on time to the scene.

Sometimes the topics of news can be so strange and foolish that I get scared that journalism has long been dead. For example, for a few years ago the network has the news about Katy Perry unfollowed her ex-husband in Twitter. This news was published in one online magazine. After that I stopped to fear of dead of traditional media, the dead of all journalism became my fear.

I am not that one who believes in death of  journalism. People in all time suppose radio to be died, newspaper will not be popular and after appearing internet some people thought that everybody will stop to watch TV.  But all these forms are quite popular and interesting for reading.

I believe that journalism will develop every year.  And even now we can see this process. New forms and platforms appear,  journalists try to find new ideas, heroes and themes for articles. reades are becoming more and more demanding. It is not enough for them  to now what happened and where. They need to know all the details, watch videos and  look throw the infographics answered a question «Why has it happened» and «How often does it happen in the world». They need long stories and longreads, because they can replace a good novel and ,moreover, there are pictures, timelines and videos. They are such spectacular!
